EP: Water Water | Artist: HUMANS
There's something incredibly enticing about a melody that gradually builds using each integrated beat. Whether it's the infectious percussion, the resonant synths, or the melancholic vocals, Humans are laying down a fresh new sound with every release thus far, and their latest EP Water Water is no exception.
Hailing from Vancouver, B.C., Humans is the brainchild of Peter Ricq and Robbie Slade. With an extensive discography of remixes and singles since their inception in 2010, the duo have swiftly won over the underground music scene with an experimental mix of minimal electronica and hard-hitting acoustics. Released about a year after their Juno nominated debut album Noontide, Water Water finds Ricq and Slade in Nicolas Jaar territory; giving the listener an extended, ten minute jam that weaves in and out of vocal refrain and mesmeric progression.
"We think this tune shows a more chill side to us, but it definitely reflects something that's always been there in our personalities. We both like it when our favorite artists change up their style from record to record, so this is the next step of our progression as artists.”
Released via Haven Sounds here in Canada (and Mom + Pop everywhere else), Water Water is the first of two tracks on the extended play; accompanied by a radio edit, as well as the b-side tune Bout Chu.
