#GuideTo: The World’s First Televised Music Industry Awards Show Dedicated to Unsigned Music
As we know, the musical landscape is changing for aspiring stars of the future. The stigma of being an ‘unsigned’ artist has disappeared. In fact artists like Stormzy and Macklemore have turned their backs on traditional record label deals and 360 recording contracts to remain totally independent and retain the all important creative rights to their music.
To recognize such independent artists, the inaugural Unsigned Music Awards are taking place on Thursday, October 27th, 2016 in London at The Troxy Theatre. The UMAs (for short) are designed to discover, champion, fund and reward the most promising emerging and proudly independent talent. This televised event has partnered with incredible sponsors like Jack Daniels, Marshall Amplification, and Tunecore; with successful artists and bands being rewarded with the chance to work with some of the industry’s most reputable publishers, booking agents, sync agencies, managers, studios and much more. It’s also worth noting that selected artists will be offered gigs, sessions, online features, and other forms of exposure over the months leading up to the show itself.
The application process is free and open now for artists of all genres. If you are a band, singer, MC, producer, or aspiring musician wanting more exposure, then be sure to sign up here. Applications are open until August 31st, 2016. Check out the UMA's website for more details on the categories and voting panel below, plus their socials for more news and announcements preceding the event!
