Folk singer-songwriter's Helen Austin and Paul Otten are Big Little Lions. Hailing from Comox Valley, British Columbia, and Cincinnati, Ohio, the duo are set to release their upbeat and down-to-earth album Just Keep Moving this Friday with an incredible lead single already out called What If.
Listening to What If, it's apparent that Austin and Otten are prolific songwriters. The memorable tune mingles a beautiful blend of folk mandolin, guitar, bass, and piano combined with euphoric vocal harmonies and lyrics sung by the pair. This certainly isn't their first rodeo in the big leagues however, as the two talented artists have already achieved 1st place in the International Songwriting Competition, while also securing Song of the Year award at the John Lennon Songwriting Competition and Ensemble of the Year award at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
"The duo's sound mixes the new school folk of Mumford and Sons with a dance rhythm that keeps the music sounding light and upbeat. It also doesn't hurt that their songs are very catchy and aided by how well Austin and Otten's voices complement each other."
We always love a good folk album and Big Little Lions provide us with just that. Be sure to listen to the duo's single What If in the Soundcloud player above and preview/purchase the rest of their new album Just Keep Moving on iTunes here.
