Melbourne songstress BATTS has officially released her latest single Kiki onto the world and it's everything we were hoping for (and more).
Brimming with smoky timbre and indie-pop transcendence, Kiki is the ultimate postlude to a slew of epic releases. BATTS, who also produces post-folk music as Tanya Batt, teamed up with UK downtempo producer Ficci on Kiki. While it isn't their first time working together (listen to BATTS' other singles on Soundcloud here), the two manage to weave an ethereal blend of sonic textures and explosive crescendo into the mix. BATTS' dreamy songwriting gives the track a full-bodied pull; rising and falling with every verse and ultimately dropping into the track's groove-filled breakdown. Accompanied by guitarist LANKS, Kiki bears a strong resemblance to English duo The xx, which only solidifies how goddamn good this song truly is.
