Take one pinch Fat Freddy's Drop, a dash of Jamie Woon, and a drizzle of Sorceress and what do you get? Brisbane via London singer-songwriter Jordan Rakei. With the promise of his debut album Cloak dropping early June, the R&B artist gives us a taste of what's to come with his second single Blame It On The Youth.
Undeniably one of our generation's most promising reggae-soul music makers, Jordan Rakei is making waves across the world with his forthcoming LP Cloak. Released ahead of the June 3rd launch date, Rakei's first single off of the album, Talk To Me, has already received a ton of attention for its mellow percussion and atmospheric, lo-fi depth. Now, he takes it up a notch with Blame It On The Youth. Marrying steady rhythm with a funky horn section that matches the classic JR vibrato, Blame It On The Youth delivers summer in a song; warm and groovy just how we like it.
Cloak comes after Jordan's 2013 debut EP Franklins Room and 2014 follow-up release Groove Curse. Guest spotting on Disclosure's CARACAL back in September and headlining Annie Mac Presents 2016 live series, it's set to be a busy and prolific year for this budding talent. Peep the pre-album interview above and be sure to grab your copy of Blame It On The Youth in the Soundcloud player at the top of this post!
