Premiered exclusively on The Beatforest Music Blog, we are proud to present DYLAN.JK.VOGT's debut EP 7pm & Chinatown; a release which captures the essence of a travelling producer and his fine hand at composing minimalistic beats that transcend the very design of electronic music making.
Hailed as the downtempo demigod in some circles (or maybe just mine), DYLAN.JK.VOGT has an exceptional approach to producing music. Be it his proficiency in sound design or his background in classical piano, the Pennsylvania-native implants his vast musical knowledge into every piece of music he creates. With a focus on getting to know the elements of his beats, from the complex parts of each synth to the intricacies of each live recording, VOGT ensures that his listener's are satisfied from start to finish.
"I attempt to use sounds I’ve recorded or retrieved from creative common databases that I feel establish ‘tension and release’ of energy in more subtle ways (like the car passing or glissando of chimes in 7pm)."
Loaded with the warming sounds of soulful electronica and atmospheric synth, 7pm & Chinatown is your next stop into chillwave territory. Composed of all-original material, VOGT manages to awaken our inner-yogi with this amazing two-track release. Much like a mantra of tranquility, the vocals of both tracks will lull you deep into a meditative state; guiding the listener through a delicate soundscape of panning synth and jazz-based rhythms. The title track (7pm & Chinatown) uses a mix of lightweight percussion, staccato vocals, and long-held fermata which keep the track feeling light and airy. The second track (titled 2am & Dupont) has a darker, more ethereal vibe; complemented by the culminating timbre of every measure.
