When Amelia Randall Meath and Nicholas Sanborn (aka. Sylvan Esso) release new music, the world tunes in and takes a beat. The North Carolina duo, known for their inventive folk-pop tunes, have revealed the 10-track sophomore album "What Now," which delineates the collective process of reflection and self-exploration we, as humans, perpetually face.
'It's an album about growing up, about looking around at the end of a phase in our lives and taking stock of where we are, where we've been, and how we got here.'
"What Now" is loaded with upbeat and downtempo groove, from the kazoo-inspired, electro-acapella opener "Sound," to the glitch-rock vibrations of "The Glow." My personal favourite ("Just Dancing") ties together Nick's classic bass-synths with Amelia's mantric vocals in what is unquestionably the album's most danceable tune. Purchase "What Now" and other related goodies at the Sylvan Esso Store, stream the album below, and listen to "Just Dancing" on our Spotify playlist BEATS OF THE INDIE here!
